Information collected automatically
When you use our site, we and our service providers collect your IP address, browser and device type, your approximate location based on your IP address, the pages you view, what you add to your cart, the site that referred you, and when you visit. We collect this with cookies and similar tools, described below.
Information from others

- Shipping carriers, with delivery updates.
- Advertising and analytics partners, about how you interact with our ads and our site.

Cookies and similar tools
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Pixels and tags are similar tools; we call them all cookies here.
| Type | What they do | Can you turn them off? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keep your cart, run checkout, keep you signed in, prevent fraud and remember your cookie choices | No, the store can't work without them |
| Analytics | Show us which pages people use, so we can improve the site | Yes |
| Marketing | Measure our ads and show you our ads on other sites, for example through Meta and Google | Yes |
Our cookie banner lets you accept or decline analytics and marketing cookies. To change your choice, clear the cookies for thornburyshop.com in your browser and choose again when the banner returns. You can also block cookies in your browser settings, but the cart and checkout need the strictly necessary ones. Most of our cookies are set by Shopify, which lists them in its cookie policy.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with companies that help us run the store, and only what they need:
- Shopify, which hosts our store and checkout. See Shopify's privacy policy.
- Payment processors, to take payment and prevent fraud.
- Shipping carriers and fulfillment partners, to deliver your order and handle returns.
- Service providers for email, customer service, reviews, returns and order tracking, under contracts that let them use your information only to serve us.
- Advertising partners, such as Meta and Google, if you allow marketing cookies.
- Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect our customers and our business from fraud or harm.
- A buyer of our business, if Thornbury is sold or merged, under the terms of this policy.
We don't sell your personal information for money.
Your choices
- Marketing emails. Use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to us. We'll still send you emails about your orders.
- Cookies. Decline analytics and marketing cookies in our banner, as described above.
- Selling and sharing. Under some US state laws, sharing information through marketing cookies counts as "selling" or "sharing" for targeted advertising. To opt out, decline marketing cookies in our banner, turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser (we treat it as an opt-out for that browser), or email us with "Do not sell or share" in the subject line.
International transfers
Our providers store and process information in the United States, Canada and other countries. When information leaves the UK or the European Economic Area, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
- Order and payment records: as long as tax and accounting laws require, generally up to seven years.
- Account details: until you close your account.
- Customer service messages: up to three years after we last hear from you.
- Marketing: until you unsubscribe. We then keep your email on a do-not-email list so you don't hear from us again.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- opt out of targeted advertising and the sale or sharing of your information;
- object to or restrict how we use it, or withdraw consent you gave us;
- appeal our decision on your request.
We honor these requests from every customer, wherever you live. Email support@thornburyshop.com with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We'll confirm your identity by checking the email address on your orders, and we'll reply within 30 days. You can use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof that they act for you. We won't treat you differently for using your rights.
If we decline your request, reply to our answer to appeal, and we'll respond within 45 days. If you're still unhappy, you can contact your state attorney general or, in the UK or the European Economic Area, your data protection authority.
Children's privacy
Our store isn't meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, write to us and we'll delete it.
Security
Our store and checkout run on Shopify, which is certified PCI DSS Level 1 for card payments, and every page of our site is encrypted. We limit access to your information to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
We'll post any change here with a new "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, we'll email customers before it takes effect.
